Funeral services for DuWayne Richard DeBates, 44, manager of the Farmer's State Bank in Kanaranzi, MN were conducted Friday at St. Catherine's Church in Luverne, MN. Burial was in Ashwood Cemetery in Kanaranzi. The Reverend Thomas Ploof officiated. Dale Shade, Harold Carlson, Gordon Aanenson, Lloyd Lee, Albert Rust and Everette Behr were pallbearers. Eddie Hansen, William Doherty, A.W. Wiese, Bernie Pommer, Tim Dispanet, Lester Wiese and Floyd Kraebach were honorary pallbearers.DuWayne DeBates died early Tuesday at his home in Kanaranzi, MN of a myocardial infarction. He was born May 6th, 1936, in Luverne and grew up in Hardwick. He Graduated from Luverne High School in 1954. DuWayne DeBates and Shirley Ann Yager were married June 4th, 1957 in Ellsworth, MN.They made their home in Kanaranzi. DuWayne DeBates was associated with the Farmer's State Bank in Kanaranzi for 26 years and served on its board of directors. He also had served on the county park board and the board of the Kanaranzi School. He was a member of St. Catherine's Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Eagles.DuWayne is survived by his wife Shirley Ann (Yager) DeBates; three sons, Thomas, Scott and Timothy; one daughter, Jill; his mother, Augusta DeBates, Luverne, and one sister, Patricia (Mrs. Lowell) Ahrendt, Luverne. He was preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) and two children, Mark and Sara.
