David CarrollSIOUX CITY I David Charles Carroll, 42, of Sioux City was welcomed with open arms by his Lord and Savior, family and friends, on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 510 Tipton Street, Salix, lowa, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. lnterment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7p.m., at the church in Salix. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.David was born Monday, March 30, 1970, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, to Gerald L. Carroll and Diane (Purgett) Bogenrief. He grew up and attended school in lnternational Falls, Minn., graduating in 1988. ln 1993, he moved to Sioux City. He later met Andrea Beaubien, and the couple wed on Aug. 28, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. He worked for Philips Kiln in South Sioux City as a "Kiln Doctor" (welder). David was a hard worker and well thought of by his co-workers. On June 27, 2012, David professed his faith, was welcomed into the Catholic Church, and received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, Eucharist and Anointing with his family by his side. He was very proud to be a part of his sister’s baptism on that same day. He stated later that night, "lt was a beautiful day."David loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, swimming, golfing and riding his Harley. He enjoyed sitting around having Stanley Cup, the Vikings, NASCAR and his DVD Concerts. David was easy going and laid back, and a selfless provider to his family. He lived his life just like his favorite song, "Simple Man."Surviving are his wife, Andrea, son, Shey Swenson, and daughter, Josey Carroll, all of Sioux City; father, Gerald (Jacqueline) Carroll of lnternational Falls, Minn.; mother, Diane (Dennis) Bogenrief of Sioux City; sister, Laurie Carroll of lnternational Falls; mother-in-law, Juanita Beaubien of Correctionville, lowa; brother-inlaw, Bryan Beaubien of Correctionville; four sisters-in-law, Jaimee Beaubien of Sioux City, Elaine Hansen of Sioux City, Angela and Tom Kayl of Lawton, lowa, and Holly Beaubien of Sioux City; and seven nieces and nephews, Brennan Carroll, Sara Bliss, Brady Wicklund, Tristen and Alexandra Kayl, Beau Beaubien and Kennedy, who is still on the way. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Siouxland, Utah, Minnesota, and Canada. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorthea and Charles Purgett; paternal grandfather, Conrad Carroll; paternal grandparents, William and Norma Wreggitt; uncle, Thomas Carroll; aunt, Cheryl Lynn Purgett; and father-in-law, Vincent Beaubien.The family would like to send a special thank you to Dana and Patsy Clemmons and Kathy Jo Mitchell for all their love and support. The family also request prayers for the individuals and their families who are fighting or have lost their battle with cancer.
